Seeking Student Technicians & Volunteers
November 19, 2019
Artly World is a 501c3 nonprofit that provides free afterschool arts and music programs to children and families in Austin’s underserved communities. We’re seeking student volunteers and on-ground technical staff to help with a large arts event that is free and open to the public on Saturday, November 23, 2019.
Event Description & Information
Austin Arts Fair is an endeavor to celebrate the local artists and performers who contribute so much to Austin’s unique culture and distinct character. This event is free and open to the public, and it is an opportunity to interact with local artists, shop collections of handmade, original art, participate in fun, all-ages arts activities and workshops, and enjoy live entertainment and onsite local food vendors. The event will be held from 10am to 4pm on November 23, 2019, at Asian American Resource Center (8401 Cameron Rd).
Paid Opportunity: On-ground Event Photographer and Video Technician
We’re seeking one or two students to help us fill a couple of on-ground technical roles during event. Compensation will be a stipend dependent on experience.
On-ground Event Photographer The event photographer will be in charge of capturing a variety of still shots and short videos of arts activities, demos, vendors, and audience members before, during, and after the duration of the event. The photographer will also assist with live streaming footage of selected event activities via social media channels at select times during the event.
On-Ground Video Technician The video technician will be in charge of recording and projecting onto a big screen portions of the live on-stage performances and other on-ground arts activities during the event. In addition to live music and dance, we have arranged for some of the participating artists to perform live demos and activities (live painting, live origami, live sculpting) for event attendees. The video technician would be in charge of setting up and managing logistics for projecting close-up shots of these live arts activities onto a large screen onstage. (Note: The projector and the screen will already be setup. The technician will need to setup the camera, connect to the projector, and ensure streaming of live video on projection screen.) The technician will also assist with live streaming of selected arts activities via social media channels.
If you think you’d be a good fit to fulfill one (or both) of these roles, please reach out to Program Director Myranda Harris at firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible.
Volunteer Opportunities: Support a Good Cause
We have a number of opportunities for volunteers to help out on-ground during the event with things such as attendee & vendor registration, facilitation of arts activities, logistical setups, selling raffle tickets, and managing Artly World booths. Your involvement would be in support of a good cause, as any proceeds will go toward providing Artly World’s free arts and music programming to children in Austin. Plus, it’ll be a lot of fun. You’ll get to interact with children and families, help out with fun arts and music activities, and meet some really great artists.
Snacks and refreshments provided for volunteers.
If you’d like to participate as a volunteer, please email Program Director Myranda Harris at email@example.com as soon as possible.
