Megalomedia is a major Austin-based production company with shows having aired on Discovery, A&E, TLC, Travel Channel, and National Geographic is currently seeking interns for the upcoming FALL 2019 semester. Our development department is looking for hard working and self-starting individuals who are eager to learn the inner workings of how documentary and reality television shows are conceptualized and ultimately pitched to networks. Although the internship is unpaid, interns will be able to receive college credit.
Day to day internship jobs will include: - Casting for projects in development - Assist editors in post-production workflow - Draft creative documents for potential network submission - Cold phone calls to talent - Research for development - Social media outlines for world trends - Marking footage for administrative review - Streamline stringouts or selects of footage in development - General administrative support (scheduling, phone calls, office tasks) - Review and execute network notes for projects in development
Skills desired: - Knowledge of current and past programming found on broadcast, streaming, and cable networks. - Experience with Google Suite and Microsoft Office applications including Google Docs, Word, Google Sheets and Excel. - Strong written and verbal skills. - Keen eye for finding interesting stories, talent and trends. - Quick on feet and a proven creative problem solver. - Extremely detail oriented, a professional. - Ability to effectively research interesting professions, locations, and sub-cultures by utilizing social media, blogs, news sources and other more unconventional means. - Experience with non-linear editing software such as Final Cut and Avid is preferred, but not a requirement. - Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud is a plus.
Most importantly, we need people willing to commit to this internship who would consider themselves reliable and eager to learn. We are very serious about allowing interns the ability to gain a wealth of practical/working experience that some would consider invaluable and as such, hope that you can bring to the table a positive go-getter attitude.
*Interns are expected to be able to dedicate a minimum of 15 hours a week for the duration of the semester.
