Television Job Postings - Write and Associate Producer, Story Department
August 6, 2019
Megalomedia, based out of Austin, TX is currently searching for two new hires and would like to share these opportunities with recent graduates:
Writer A strong, punctilious writer is sought to create character-based voice-over scripts for a well-established long-running documentary reality TV program on a weekly basis. The ideal candidate will have a knack for picking up on and adapting to the idiosyncracies of an existing show, but will also bring fresh creative energy to a well-worn process. You will be collaborating with story producers and executive producers to create scripts against tight deadlines. Must have experience working with quick turn-around times and an ability to be a team-player who adapts to different personalities. The job will sometimes involve long hours, and require communicating with a remote team in charge of voice over recordings, so communication and organization will be important. Experience with the rigors of the TV delivery schedule is a plus though not mandatory. Schedules will sometimes shift around, so an ability to go with the flow and maintain a positive attitude is essential. A graduate degree in fiction writing or screenwriting will be looked upon kindly but is not required.
Associate Producer, Story Department Candidate with a strong film and television background is sought for an entry-level associate producer position, assisting the story department of a long-running documentary reality TV show. The role is ideal for a recently graduated MFA student looking to get on a TV producer track, in documentary or reality. We are seeking a person with writing ability and some experience with Avid. As this is a "story" position, narrative chops are more important than experience on the camera side, though a capacity for logistics will certainly help. Candidate should be a highly organized self-starter, capable of thinking outside the box, but willing to work within the box as necessary. The job will involve a vareity of tasks related to processing the information contained within days and days of footage, ultimately with the team goal of seeing it all arranged into compelling episodes. While this is an entry-level position, you would be part of a small team with lots of room to learn and grow, with the chance to make an immediate impact.
