Film Grant Opportunity for Students
October 17, 2018
My name is Katy Baldock, and I'm the Associate Producer of Fin & Fur Films Productions here in Austin. I am writing to inform your department of a new opportunity for filmmakers, the Wild Texas Short Film Grant, in association with the Wild Texas Film Tour. I was hoping you could pass this information along to students in the department.
Wild Texas Film Tour is a short film tour showcasing wildlife, adventure, and conservation stories from across the state. Attendees are able watch a series of short films and meet the characters in the films, the folks behind the cameras, and some of the best photographers, anglers, outdoorsman, and wildlife enthusiasts in the state of Texas. The tour is hosted by local filmmaker and conservationist Ben Masters.
For the Wild Texas Short Film Grant, Fin & Fur Films and Explore Ranches will be granting $10,000 to a filmmaker whose film is best suited for inclusion in the Wild Texas Film Tour and falls in line with its goals of showcasing Texas-based wildlife, conservation efforts, and outdoor adventure. We are looking for projects that celebrate our state’s rich conservation heritage and future. We are accepting applications now through October 31, 2018. If the recipient completes the film before the 2019 Wild Texas Film Tour begins, it will be considered for inclusion in the program. If not yet complete, it will be considered for the following year’s tour. Students are welcome to apply, and applicants do not have to be Texas residents.
For more information, please visit wildfilmtour.com. The application can be found here.
If awarded this film grant, it would be a great opportunity for young filmmakers to get the necessary funding to make their idea come to life, and for their film to get exposure. Wild Film Tour 2019 will screen for two nights in Austin, and will screen in 12-15 cities across the state of Texas.
