Austin Pets Alive! Short Film Help Requested
February 22, 2017
Want to be a Superhero to Shelter Pets Across the Nation and Add to your Portfolio?
You want to tell stories. We want the nation to know our journey. Let's work together to tell a story about the two people motivated by an impossible dream: to save the lives of shelter pets. It's a David versus Goliath race against time. But wait, there's more. There are twists and turns culminating in a happy ending. Plus, there is the ability to film puppies and kittens. (Awwww).
We're American Pets Alive!, a program of Austin Pets Alive. Our program is designed to share Austin's journey from the dark days when our local municipal shelter saved only 50% of the shelter pets in 2006. Thanks to a long political fight, the city enacted a no kill ordinance. Then Austin Pets Alive developed targeted programs designed to save the pets most at risk of being killed. As a result, in 2011, Austin saved over 90% of the homeless pets coming into Austin Animal Center. We recently celebrated six years of maintaining this standard.
(We dream of a day when this is norm for every community across the nation.)
When other communities hear about it, they reach out to us. This is why the American Pets Alive! conference was created. It is designed to teach rescues, shelters and others who want to make a difference, how they can save the lives of the shelter pets within their community.
Will you help us tell a compelling story? We're looking to create a short to help others believe this CAN happen and inspire them to take action.
We don't have a budget to make this. If you're reading this far and want to do it anyway, please contact me.
Let's see what we can do together. Thank you for your time.
