New Orleans Film Festival
May 2, 2016
Greetings from New Orleans! I am the director of programming for the New Orleans Film Festival and wanted to write to let you and your community know that our programming team is now accepting submissions for its 27th edition, to be held October 12–21, 2016.
To encourage individuals from UT Austin to submit, we are happy to extend a discounted rate of 30% off through FilmFreeway, using the discount code MICHEAUX30. We hope that you’ll consider spreading the word to filmmakers in your area. (You may have received some postcards from us earlier in the year with a similar discount offer. As the fee has increased since then, we're now offering a bigger discount to help offset that increase.)
NOFF is an Oscar-qualifying festival that was recently called the “top-growing film festival” by Forbes and has also been named by MovieMaker Magazine as one of the “50 Film Festivals Worth the Entry Fee” five years in a row.
We work hard to make NOFF a festival where filmmakers can meet collaborators, hatch plans for future projects, connect with industry leaders, and learn from one other. The festival programs over 90% of its lineup directly from submissions, prompting MovieMaker Magazine to write, “NOFF is particularly adept at discovering films that have been overlooked elsewhere.”
Last year's festival screened more than 200 films over the course of eight days and reached over 25,000 attendees, including more than 400 filmmakers who attended to show their work.
